I'm in Ushuaia now, going to a lawyer this afternoon to sort out the sale. Finally I ended up buying one (or at least paying for it) yesterday via bank transfer after spending one week trying to get Western Union to work. Well I spent 6 weeks looking on Horizons and had some good Comms with different riders for different bikes. This would be so useful for countless other travellers. if it was possible to get papers in the new owner's name in the country where bike is originally from. any pitfalls and troubles with officials kind of paperwork used for sale and border crossings after the purchase It would take only a few minutes to write about So many posts for both selling and wanting bikes, but virtually zero posts about what happened after the purchase. In my opinion the best way to do it, is to cross borders together with the original owner and then cross the other border with the TIP in your name and it should be fine. Once we crossed the borders and get the temporary import papers in our everything was fine. Luckily the Chilean persuaded not to impound the bike but we had to cross the border to Argentina when he was at the border in order to let us exit the country without the customs impounding the bike at the border.

(I had not crossed any borders yet.) The customs officer told us that the bike was illegal in Chile as it is illegal to sell and buy foreign bikes between foreigners and had to impound the bike.

Another motorcycle traveller from Chile had his suspicions when I told him the story and proposed to go to the customs (aduana) to verify. We did the whole notary thing and I felled confident that it was all legal and I could cross borders and such. Paton wrote the screenplay for the 1951 film adaptation.I bought a motorcycle in Chile from a fellow motorcycle traveller. The book vividly portrays the anguish suffered by an elderly black minister who must come to terms with his faith when his son is convicted of murdering a white man. The success of Cry, the Beloved Country, which he wrote during his tenure at the reformatory, led him to resign his post for full-time writing. In 1935 Paton left his teaching position to direct Diepkloof Reformatory for delinquent urban African boys, near Johannesburg.

Paton studied at the University of Natal (later incorporated into the University of KwaZulu-Natal) and then taught school from 1925 to 1935.
